bucket list

A friend of mine just suggested I start a daily health challenge at

https://challenge.meyouhealth.com/

I am on day three and so far it's been kind of fun, I'm curious to see how long I do it.  I could see it getting old after awhile... although they do have good ideas that are fairly easy.

Anyways, I'm suppose to come up with 3 things on my bucket list and share them.

A few for 2012:

1. safe delivery of baby #3 due at the end of April
2. Peregrine sprint triathlon in August (good recovery goal)
3. get my weight down after the pregnancy
4. keep working on flexibility/core strength training

A few ideas for the long term future:

1. complete an Xterra triathlon (or one on dirt trails)
2. do some more rock climbing
3. teach my kids to be eat healthy/exercise
4. go biking with my mom (and her dog : )
5. do another Olympic tri with 100% effort and no pregnancy : )
6. do a 5k in under 30 minutes

You got can any you want to share?

Jesus CEO 5

This chapter was the first to NOT strike a chord with me which is part of why it took so long to write about it.  I reread it twice and it just doesn't do much.. so I'm moving on but in case you're curious.   It was about believing in yourself, just like Jesus did.  The chapter talked about how Jesus knew his job, and just did it, feeling 100% at it.  Then the questions at the end were asking how much do I believe in myself?  and what would it take to believe in myself down to my toes?

Well, I don't really have an answer. I guess I'm a 85% or so, most of the time.. and it would take a perfect world (effect) to feel 100%.  Perfect kids, perfect sleep, perfect job, perfect home, etc.  But I guess Jesus didn't have perfect conditions and neither will I.

Hmm.. oh well.  Any ideas?

30 day challenge

‎30 day challenge. I decided to throw myself a 30 day challenge. I like to do this every once in awhile. This time my challenge is "no seconds" when it comes to food. I kind of started about a week ago but Christmas didn't go so well. But I'm back and it took every ounce of energy not to have extra last night (even picking at the leftovers was out). Phil "made" me pack up the leftovers just to challenge my self-control (it was pretty funny yet sadly difficult at the same moment). Anyways. I thought I'd see if anyone wants to do a 30 day with me. Pick whatever you want, whatever works for you and I'll check in on you.

sorry

I see I haven't blogged in awhile but life has been very busy here with Christmas parties, travels, preparations, and everything in between.   And this next week we have more Christmas parties, birthday, more travel and continued work stuff so we'll see how it goes but I don't see much blogging this week either.

If you're out and about in Waterloo you should stop and look at our nativity scene in front of our house.  Although I don't have proper lighting, yet, it is kind of neat looking.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

2012 will be here before we know it, and looking forward to it.

jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!

Christmas is one of those times of year that you just love having little kids.  Here we are getting ready for the season.

putting up lights outside

Wendell dressed in Christmas stockings and an elf hat, oh and a sweatshirt that would fit Harlie

This headband is a new tradition in our household, we got it last year but I love wearing it because it has bells.  When I'm stressed I like to put it on.

Her reaction was the same as ours.  We knew Wendell made this ornament last year at preschool but could not remember what it was.  It took me a couple of days but I remembered.. they had made a birthday cake for Jesus.  (Um yep.. looks just like a birthday cake Wendell.. good job  : ) I did write on the back so we'd remember in the future.  Definitely a keeper but I'd never remember it 20 years from now.

what cheese balls

random picture insert here... Wendell decided he wanted to camp out in Harlie's room last night and since it wasn't a school night (last night) then we let them.  He would have been asleep in no time but Harlie kept him up.  Finally I turned out every lick of light and she crashed too.   I know they'll want to do this more often which is great as they will probably be sharing a room in a few months for a few months.

Our Christmas lights.  This year I finally made my own nativity scene.  I like it but we have to get the lighting figured out.  We bought solar lights but they aren't working very well (probably due to the cloudy sky) so I'm not sure if we'll take them back and just buy plug in lights or see if these lights get better.  I really want to have music playing (some christian Christmas music) but Phil and I both agree that nobody would probably figure it out and then it would be a waste of time.  We'll see, maybe I'll just play it for myself.

Anyways, that's our fun for now.  We haven't really been out and about to scope out Christmas lights yet but hopefully this weekend or next week.  We're quite notorious for making Mc D's ice cream runs in the middle of winter.

Jesus CEO 4

Day 4.. again very simple yet thought provoking.  The chapter was about being on a mission and stated that Jesus was on a mission and he stayed on his mission even when it was tempting to divert.  Then the questions they asked where, what is your mission? are you doing it? are you being distracted?

Well.. great questions but the chapter made me think more about Jesus.. and what exactly was his mission?  The chapter states that he didn't heal everyone, or raise everyone from the dead, or build shopping malls, etc.   He had a mission, knew what it was, and stuck to it.

So what was his mission?  I asked Phil this so I'm curious to see what he has to say but I have been thinking about this and I know that Jesus #1 mission was to die/pay for our sins and then be brought back so we can "live" again.

But what was his mission during his life?  Here's what I've got so far: 1. to teach us about God 2. to show people compassion and love 3. to call us on our mistakes and then challenge us to do better

Hmmm.. I wonder if that should be my mission.

Any other ideas/thoughts?
